Microsoft’s Surface Pro hasn’t modified quite a bit in recent times. After a year-and-a-half wait, the 2017 version was primarily a spec bump, with solely minimal adjustments to the physique and Microsoft’s trademark kickstand and stylus. The 2018 mannequin merely added an non-obligatory LTE antenna for mobile connectivity.

But according to ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, a “heavily redesigned” Surface Pro 6 might be coming in mid-2019, shaking up the formulation.

And hopefully — in case you’ll permit me to be egocentric — including the usual USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 connector they so desperately want. (Current fashions have a proprietary “Surface Connect” port for charging and knowledge as a substitute.) Because Foley’s sources aren’t sure that’ll occur, and that is a disgrace.

Her sources additionally corroborate an intriguing rumor from Bloomberg that Microsoft will introduce a brand new, smaller, lower-cost household of Surface tablets this summer time, to compete with Apple’s iPad.

Plus, they are saying Microsoft’s loopy 50-inch rotating touchscreen pc, aka Surface Hub 2, will arrive in 2019 as properly.

The Surface Pro and Surface Laptop might also get spec bumps this fall, in line with Foley, with Intel’s Eighth-gen processors.

But the larger information — if true — might be if Microsoft reveals a dual-screen pill this 12 months. That’s according to Thurrott.com’s Brad Sams, and it isn’t that far-fetched: Intel recently showed off a dual-screen Tiger Rapids prototype, and Dell may have one as well.

Yesterday, Sams reported that Microsoft’s subsequent Xbox, codename Scarlett, is due in 2020, and new HoloLens may arrive next year

Microsoft declined to remark.
