He turned the 33rd pitcher to report 2,500 strikeouts. He earned the mark with a strikeout towards Shohei Ohtani to guide off the ninth inning. 

It was his seventh and ultimate strikeout of the night time. He allowed 5 hits and one stroll in 118 pitches. 

In 2,613.2 innings pitched, Verlander has a three.40 ERA.
